NBA Comparison: Eric Williams
Strengths: Physically, built like a rock for what would most likely be his future position in the
NBA at SF...Likes to handle contact and play in the post, where he can back his man down relatively easy with his appropriate
strength and use of his body to score in the low blocks...Quite a mature, capped-out player in terms of physical build, which
gives him a definite edge especially considering the physically weaker Euro competition...Possesses the agility found in most
NBA small forwards which would certainly help him make the transition in the next level; is always one step quicker than the
Euro big men he matches up against, helping him in his cause to get layups...Always seems to know where the basket is relative
to where he is in the post, showing his good awareness and his keen eye for scoring in that location...Has this keen ability
to draw contact and get to the line once he establishes position...Decent free throw shooter (71%)...Starting to develop a
jumpshot now which gives hope in that part of his game in the future...Runs the floor fairly well for his size, can finish
decently in transition...Possesses the lateral quickness and decent speed to keep up with his matchups on defense, and can
even get steals at times...
Weaknesses: Can really be a "tweener" type in the NBA if he doesn't make the appropriate adjustments and
transition to the SF position...He possesses the movements of a small forward but the game of a PF, and he is quite
oversized for small forward and a bit undersized for PF...Very nice post game in Europe, but he may have trouble
finishing amongst the more athletic "trees" found in the NBA...The way he can get to the line, he should really
look to improve upon his free throw shooting...Decent athleticism, but nothing really special and won't stand out much
in the NBA; only dunks when he is open, otherwise plays like a post-pivot/garbage man when he's defended well...On
defense, he can stick with his man but he hasn't been able to put all together consistently; has played remarkable defense
at spurts but can also let his man burn him...His lack of a jumpshot is his biggest weakness towards his transition. He has
really played like a PF offensively all his life and he lacks the polish and touch that wing players have...Can miss badly
at times, and really lacks range on his shot (only extends to about 10' feet currently)...Already more physically mature than
his competition, and his consistent dominance of them makes scouts wonder whether he has been playing against bad competition...That also
limits is potential, has been doing the same things for the past couple of years now...Age is somewhat of a concern, he has
rejected the glories of the NBA in the past couple of years to stay in Europe; now at 23, will scouts still give him the chance
he has long wanted to seek?
