UPDATED: Lewis has went on a huge strength and weight regiment, gaining around 50 lbs. to get to
be about 280 lbs. at the time of this report. However, with the upside comes the downside; Lewis has really lost his mobility
and his shotblocking ability that he possessed in previous years. He still hasn't gotten used to his body and doesn't really
use it to his advantage. Although his inside game has improved due to his strength, he really hasn't developed this aspect
of the game in past years and it shows. He looks very unorthodox and his touch with defenders bodying him up decreases five-fold
and he often misses his post-up shots. He can still finish squarely around the basket with power dunks and put-backs, but
he has never really had a good offensive touch and his mid-range game is extremely limited. He looks quite slow on the floor
especially running the court now and isn't helping his team's 11-8 record at all. He does have basic fundamentals to spare
him though, such as boxing out for rebounds. Now a junior, he has a couple of years to recover and hone his game but it seems
that Baccarone has already declared for the draft. Let's hope that he turns out to be a guy such as Kendrick Perkins and have
a good development curve.
Comparison: Jerome James
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lewis Baccarone is a relatively athletic player who looks to block shots, give his team some well-needed
intensity and gobble up rebounds. He runs the floor relatively well and does the garbage work for his team extremely well.
He still gets pushed around and needs to put on a lot of weight, but he does recognize the importance of it and is dedicating
himself to it. His shooting touch is also poor, but he's a big man, sot that's a bit expected. He has a lot of potential to
improve, and just in his freshman year, he is expected to have a bigger role for Rutgers next year.
