NBA Comparison: Maurice Evans
Strengths: An electric player with the intriguing combination of post, perimeter, and attack-the-basket
skills...Very nice athlete with an above average first step...Can get to the basket, absorb contact with very nice upper body
strength, and finish...Very brutish post player, uses strength to back down weaker/smaller players and that could be a nice
asset translating to the NBA...Decent perimeter touch, likes to spot up from the corner for college-range three pointers,
and has NBA three-point range...Improving shot off the dribble, developed as a freshman...Can also mix it up in the paint,
occasionally hustling for loose balls and getting tip-ins off offensive rebounds...Quite an intense player who thrives somewhat
in transition game...Pretty well built for his age...Always finds some sort of motivation to play hard, has a motor that never
really goes off...Plays at his best when his team is behind, like a "submarine" he stays dormant and then catches his opponent
off guard with his explosiveness and sudden motivation...
Weaknesses: Very inconsistent within stretches of the game. Although his motor never turns off, sometimes
his lack of basketball IQ shows and he can pick up cheap fouls/ take bad shots/ turn the ball over...Scores in bunches, but
doesn't score consistently within the course of the game; but to his credit he is a fairly consistent scorer...Not the best
decision maker, and he will need to improve that...Doesn't have much court vision, and ballhandling skills need some work...May
rely too much on his intensity and athleticism at times...Although he has the shooting touch, he is by no means a pure shooter
and can miss open jumpshots at times...Likes to mix it up with a little bit of everything on offense, but has no real go-to
move...Has all the tools, especially the strength, to lock down his man on defense, but he is only an average defender at
best currently...Mediocre NBA height...Unless he improves vastly over the course of his college career, he only translates
to being an NBA role player...
