NBA Comparison: Caron Butler
Strengths: Very disruptive player who plays with a lot of fiery intensity...Decently built body and
likes to attack defenses, never gives up on plays...Looks stronger than he is, and has a frame capable of putting on more
weight; quite a developed upper body already...Gets to the line fairly well and hits his free throws at a 77% clip...Serviceable
mid-range shot up to 15' feet...Excellent transition game player, likes to explode to the hoop and finish with rim-rattling
dunks...Plays with good intensity and heart...Quite a consistent player, his lowest points last year were 12...Very good anticipation
skills, gets a good amount of steals and immediately gets onto the fastbreak...Unselfish, team player...Hard worker,
always looks to improve his game and has improved each of his three seasons at Utah...Plays with a lot of fiery emotion, and
in his case it is really for the better...
Weaknesses: Ball skills are subpar, and that is a concern especially if he is going to be a guard
at the next level...Ballhandling skills need a lot of work and has a hard time getting to the basket at half-court sets...Sometimes
forces the issue and does things he shouldn't be doing (taking shots out of his range, attacking set defenses, etc.) and can
be turnover prone and get a lot of charging calls...Not the most intelligent player, thinks that his physicality/intensity
can overcome all odds and unfortunately that is not going to work at the next level...Doesn't move well without the ball...Quickness
is only average, although that is above average in transition game...Doesn't have much range on his jumpshot, and has
a tiny hitch on his shot making for a slow release; can also be inconsistent at times...No three point range in college, much
less in the NBA...For some reason he has problems shooting from the baseline...Although he gets steals at defense, gambles
too much at times and leaves his man open, so he is not too good at holding his man down, despite having the strength/tools
for it...Has not displayed much court vision/passing ability yet...Can be very foul prone at times...Doesn't play in a very
strong conference, so stats may be a bit misleading...
Notes: A very good student on and off the court...Played 5 years in high school and redshirted one
year with Utah...Has a lot of friends in the NBA already, like Dwyane Wade, Alan Henderson and Rashard Lewis, and so his adjustment
to the NBA might be good...
