NBA Comparison: James Posey
Strengths: Long-armed defensive stopper with a penchance for anticipating where the ball is at all
times...Gets a lot of deflections and excels when the opposition gets careless with the ball...Very active and energetic on
defense. Enjoys holding players down one-on-one, relishes defensive challenges...Moves very well off-the-ball as well and
knows defensive rotations, tries to stop every play even with hard fouls...Opponents seem to fear his defense just by reputation,
sometimes he doesn't need to put full effort on defense just to harass players into bad shooting nights...Can hustle and get
scrappy at times, he has had a couple of rebounding explosions in Duke's past games...Ignites fastbreaks with his steals,
and finishes well with dunks in transition...Good athlete, can play above the rim at times...Good touch on his jumpshot, above
average three point shooter...Plays with a certain sort of feistiness and eagerness...
Weaknesses: Very raw player mentally and physically, to an extent...Low basketball IQ. Seems to rely
on his excess of energy and physical tools at times, and is prone to making cheap and silly mistakes...Can pick up cheap fouls
on defense at times, and often needs to pick up fouls every game to heat up his defense, being quite a foul prone player...On
offense, chucks up a lot of ill-advised jumpers, and at this point he is only a 37% shooter for his college career...Can get
his shot off the dribble but rarely makes them...Lacks a serviceable mid-range game...Ballhandling and dribbling skills need
work, can be turnover prone at times...Needs to attack the basket more, rarely gets to the line and rarely utilizes his athleticism...Hasn't
shown much passing ability for Duke the past two years...Gets frustrated easily when things don't go his way...Game suffers
immensely if he finds himself frustrated early in the game, and this is why Coach always takes him out when he realizes this...Has
gained a lot of weight from the 180 lbs. he once was, but still needs about 10-20 more lbs. to be effective in the NBA...
