NBA Comparison: Troy Hudson
Strengths: Vandervallis is absolutely a lights-out shooter from
long distance...Gets hot fairly easily and once he does that he can just about hit shots from everywhere...Excellent three
point shooter. It doesn't take much to get himself hot, even if defenders are on him...Doesn't seem to be fazed by defenses
when he shoots, it is like they are not even there...Very solid mid-range game as well, likes to stop and pop for a mid-range
jumpshot...Uses some craft to get to the basket...High defensive IQ, knows the concepts and does everything he can to stick
with his man...Decent rebounder for a point guard...
Weaknesses: Competition. He plays against the Junior level of competition
in Croatia, and most of the players there are inexperienced players who rarely play defense...Stats seem extremely bloated,
for one thing, about 50% of his shots are open looks...Sometimes lacks aggressiveness, whether due to laziness or due to the
lack of good competition...Doesn't seem to have the best work ethic, although he may just need the right coach...Lacks physical
gifts. Not gifted with athleticism, wingspan, height, jumps, etc...Was only average around the basket against his poor competition...Only
an average spot-up shooter. Needs to have a feel for the ball in his hands, dribble a couple of times before taking his shot...Pretty
ball-dominant player, doesn't look to pass the ball often, has a me-first mentality...To an extent, selfish...
