NBA Comparison: Jannero Pargo
Strengths: Very gutsy player whose toughness, despite his height and frame, is unparalleled in college
basketball...Never met a shot he didn't like, always willing to put himself on exploratory mode in the basketball court..Creative.
Capable of making floaters over stronger and taller defenders and capable of making the flashy pass off the dribble...Natural
talents reside in shooting ability and quickness. Possesses an effortless shooting stroke with an extremely quick release,
and his shooting percentages never seem to lower whether his shot is contested or uncontested...Shoots off the dribble effectively...Literally
has no conscience. Will continue to take his lion's share of shots on the court but capable of going for offensive explosions
especially from long range distances...Excellent three point shooter (42%) on a fairly large sample of attempts...Won't miss
from the charity stripe...Very quick even for PG standards. Uses this mostly on defense but has the turbo blow-by speed to
gain an edge in attacking the basket...Savvy defender with loads of mental toughness, never gets rattled nor does he back
down from challenges...Plays with a ton of motivation on defense and stays with his man very well on the perimeter, being
able to contest jumpshots with solid regularity both on and off the ball...Despite his lack of weight arguably plays tougher
than many taller players on the NBA level...Passing ability has not really been tested but has shown capabilities and potential
of passing effectively in up-tempo, transition type, with his propensity for making the pass for which he can get the assist
on...Nice crossover and general ballhandling skills, knows how to use them to his offensive advantage...Has an array of tools
that will definitely intrigue scouts, possessing above average potential...
Weaknesses: Mostly his frame. Being 5'11" and 161 lbs. means that he is both undersized and underweight,
and he doesn't look like he has the body type to bulk up much...Will most likely be a post-up target in the NBA for bigger
guards, where he may fail considering his height and weight disadvantage, making one-on-one defense especially a concern despite
the fact that he makes a concerted effort to thrive in this area...Falls down a lot on the floor and gets himself off balance
quite easily because of his lack of weight...Tends to fall in love with the jumpshot a bit too much, sometimes on his drives
to the basket he stops and pulls up rather than continues to drive; for this reason he doesn't get to the free throw line
as much as he is expected...Despite being such a good shooter doesn't seem that proficient on both baselines...Despite being
a good ballhandler may have a tendency to overhandle and lose awareness of teammates, being rather ball-dominant and offensive
minded...Has PG talents but tends to defer to his scoring abilities not only to satisfy his strengths but also for the benefit
of the team...Hasn't shown great discipline in running the half-court offense, likes up-tempo more....Because he shoots so
much he has a tendency to wear down in this area over the course of the game and get rather streaky, can shoot his team in
and out of games...Although he does have distinguishing qualities such as toughness in his own right his type of game (undersized
shooting guard) is quite commonplace which may lessen his appeal in terms of draft position...
