NBA Comparison: Rasual Butler
A wiry shooter blessed with a prototypical wing body and long arms, Jones has played both forward positions during his
first two seasons at USC due to his team's lack of big men. Although not a pure shooter by any stretch, Jones is definitely
above average at standstill positions and can make defenses pay with open shots. He plays solid defense, but his average to
below average athleticism extremely hinders this ability at the next level where he will only be solid against athletes of
his caliber, although his long arms may help him here. He's a solid shotblocker for his size, and he has practiced the timing
and utilization of his long arms playing PF for USC; however, although he will be a better shotblocker than most SFs at the
NBA, he will definitely not be considered an extraordinaire in this area. He plays great post defense but not against stronger
players, and this probably won't translate to the NBA. Jones frequently lapses into cold spells where he either disappears,
gets into shooting funks, and routinely continues to misfire his shots without any conscience. He also needs to put on some
weight as well, and his ballhandling skills are extremely horrible from playing PF all the time that he is mostly a spot-up
shooter offensively, and only serviceable defensively. He lacks great assets and there are many questions about his transition
to the NBA, but regardless, he is only a junior, and a player to look out for.
