NBA Comparison: Shane Battier
Strengths: An all-around consummate pro...Bases most of his game on concepts and fundamentals...Smart
defender, moves his feet well laterally and stays patient at all times...Rather than intercepting the passing lanes gets most
of his steals on one-on-one defensive play...Very good man-to-man defender, can even get blocks due to good anticipation skills...Always
seems to know what his man is going to do next...Quite talented offensively...Good three point shooter (42%) and has a assortment
of mid-range J's and nimble/smart moves around the painted area...Reliable offensive player who takes shots within the context
of the offense and won't disturb the flow...Very unselfish...Limits turnovers extremely well, rarely forces the issue and
never takes risks...Good passing skills within the offense...Strong player with solid rebounding ability...Although quiet
on the court, leads by example...Very high basketball IQ, fundamentally sound...Very good off the court..A coach's dream...
Weaknesses: Will just amount to a super role player in the next level...Everything, aside from his
defense, is very solid but not super...Does not seem to have the killer instinct which most stars have...Does not elevate
his game when his team needs it the most, just tries to "mask" himself amongst all the talented role players in California's
roster...Rarely takes risks whether for good or bad; for example, passes up many open shots per game and that could be a detriment
for the team...With his good stroke ought to take more jumpshots and trust his jumper more....Not an athletic freak. A bit
on the slow side but can use his smarts to get away with that in the NBA...Lacks a good first step, may find it hard to get
to the basket in the next level...Not that good on off-the-ball defense...Lacks great potential...
