NBA Comparison: Andris Biedrins
Strengths: At only 17 years old, already has an extremely developed body, an NBA body, at such a
young age with the capacity to grow even further...Excels at the defensive end in the youth leagues, uses his big body well
as an intimidation asset against smaller players...Excels both at weakside and strong side shotblocking. Can take individual
players one on one, plays aggressively on defense unlike many European players...His size, mobility, long arms and instincts
aid him in shotblocking which should translate to the NBA level. Has a Ben Wallace mentality in a true center's body...Leaps
well...Will always sacrifice his fouls to play defense, plays with a mean streak mentality on defense trying to block every
shot...Very good rebounder, primarily hits the offensive boards but also combines his athleticism, nose for the ball and boxing
out ability for defensive boards, making him a strong rebounder at least in the youth leagues...Very active patrolling the
paint...Scores decently around the basket, can hit reverse layups and dunks around the basket with regularity with an open
look...Has a world of potential especially since he's so young and already has an NBA asset (shotblocking)...
Weaknesses: Much of his game is unpolished and undisciplined. Still a very raw player, learning the
nuances of the game, although a lot of that has to do with age...Disciplined defense would be better, there are many games
where he fails to make an impact simply because he heaps himself with foul trouble due to his aggressive mentality...Cannot
do much with the ball in his hands offensively. Has big hands which are very good at catching passes with slow reaction and
gather time, making the ball prone to getting stripped early on or on his way up...Shows little touch around the basket apart
from layups/dunks...Caves in to double or triple teams at this stage, little to no dribbling ability...Not one to take jumpshots
at this stage, expanding range may be key..Getting used to his body which means that he will more than likely make many simple
mistakes on the court...
Notes: Impressed in the Annual Yugo Under-17 Youth Leagues along with Palaj Terrin and Urstarv Ratari.
Looks key to have a breakout season this year after getting the reins to the starting lineup (and consistent playing time)
in the youth leagues.
