NBA Comparison: Ricky Davis
Strengths: A freak athlete with huge ups. Last measurement was a 42' inch vertical and he regularly
makes highlight reels in transition game with Kansas State...Has that extremely potent combination of great arm strength,
huge ups and long arms, which probably alone would make scouts salivate and secure him a spot in the 1st round barring he
keeps improving the rest of his game...Can dunk from distances away and has great hangtime, absorbing contact at his level
of competition is already not a problem for him (215 lbs), as he is well built and loves to posturize players like he has
a personal vendetta against them...Looks very smooth on the court, sometimes simply gets things his way effortlessly, making
tough and difficult shots which is the trademark of some NBA stars; never off balance...Gets great elevation
on his jumpshot...Glides around the court, moves well off the ball...Picks appropriate positions to attack the basket, always
intense on the court which is good to see out of a athletic swingman...Developing and rapidly improving ballhandling skills,
which could be extremely key to his game...Already an NBA body height, cut and weight wise...Has star potential...
Weaknesses: Basketball IQ is strangely not that good at this point. Had trouble playing within the
offense at high school and his decision-making is well below par...Sometimes goes 1-on-3 attacking the basket, or takes ill-advised,
off-balance jumpshots...Fades away on his jumpshot a bit too much, and even so his jumpshot is relatively undeveloped. Needs
to expand his range and take better percentage shots, shot an abysmal 36% from the field as a freshman in part of that...Didn't
take many three pointers this year....Lack of decision-making attacking the basket also affects his percentages in that area...A
bit selfish relative to the number of touches he receives, doesn't like to pass the ball...Passing ability off the dribble
needs work as well, gets turnovers trying to decide off the dribble...A bit turnover prone at this stage...Body strength is
not that good, most rests on his legs and arms...Defense is porous at this stage, doesn't put as much effort on this end of
the court and sometimes drifts in this area, although he has the physical tools to lock down his man...
Notes: Scouts consider him a high risk, high reward type and love his intensity, but have major gripes
about his basketball IQ which could limit his potential depending on how he develops. Comparisons run the gamut from Gerald
Green to Rawle Marshall...Favorite song is Ne-Yo's "Sexy Love"...Has already had many sponsors, such as with Adidas, Nintendo
DS and some others...
