NBA Comparison: Kurt Thomas
Strengths: Aggressive yet talented player who can score for himself yet throw his body around at
the same time...Knows his role on the team and plays to his strengths effectively...Very good post defender who gets into
a crouching position appropriately, with apt patience, sound intelligence and fundamental defensive skills...In the college
level few post players are able to score over him...Plays with heart and toughness, seen in his pursuance of rebounds and dedication
to playing good defense...Solid switchoff defender with nimble feet defensively...Always willing to use his body to double
team perimeter players a la Bo Outlaw and harass opposing offenses...Intangibles are never a problem with him...Great rebounder
in the college level, has a nose for the ball and boxes out with his wide frame, always using two hands and good grip on the
ball...Unselfish...Solid inside-outside offensive game, underrated offensively...Has a bit of a polished 12-16 foot jumpshot
which he can hit with consistency when open...Solid free throw shooter (75%) for a big man...More agile and nimble than most
centers he faces at the collegiate level, so gets his fair share of layups and points in the paint...Good semi-hook shot upon
backing his man down...Consummate pro...
Weaknesses: Has a power forward game on a small forward body, and his undersized team primarily uses
him at center, so that could stir problems to determine his 'overall' position in the NBA...Loves contact and willing to throw
his body around, but questions on whether he would have that same success in the NBA...Possesses a questionable tweener body
with very average (at best) athleticism for his position, with only a 6'9" wingspan, little leaping ability and few physical
tools to make up for it...Uses effort/toughness over physical tools for better or for worse...Needs to trust his offense more,
actually has reliable offense, but passes up way too many open shots to his perimeter players at times...Post game may be
limited at next level due to aforementioned lack of height/physical tools...Not an intimidator on defense, not much of a shotblocker
but will alter his fair share of shots...Has a tendency to get foul prone over the course of almost every game he plays in,
and early foul trouble often hinders him from making his scrappy impact at times...
