An extreme gunner and excellent shooter who can be prone to hot or cold streaks at any moment. Gets hot or cold without any reason, but when hot, capable of draining shots with a hand on his face, with his great elevation, smooth shooting mechanics, poise/concentration, relative momentum/balance and good shooting touch. Knows no fear, takes shots whenever he feels like it. Loves to come off screens to shoot three balls, and at this point in Hawaii the three pointer comprises about 80% of his shots. Loves to play an up-tempo style and spot up for threes, but also capable of dribbling one or two steps into mid-range  to shoot the ball unexpectedly and catch the defense off balance--his shot is virtually unblockable with his lightning quick release to boot--think Tracy McGrady-like in his shooting. Palas has above average athleticism and a solid first step during the rare times he attacks the basket.

However, Palas seriously needs to expand his game--he is extremely one-dimensional and undersized for a SG to boot, deferring way too much to his superior jumpshot when he is definitely capable of slashing to the basket. His basketball IQ and overall basketball awareness is in question, and although he can definitely score the basketball, he just likes to shoot the ball and rarely looks to pass. His ballhandling skills are atrocious at this stage, rarely looking to handle the ball and simply preferring to spot up for threes; however, as mentioned in the first paragraph, he can dribble one or two steps and suddenly pull-up with little pressure. Palas is explosive offensively, but not an explosive athlete; he lacks creativity during the rare times he gets to the basket, and although he has some strength, still is prone to getting his shot blocked around that area. Offensively, Palas is extremely prone to cold spells--getting cold with seemingly no reason at all, and he can miss shots even when he's open, being streaky even within the game. Palas had a breakout season last year playing alongside teammate Matthew Nester but he needs to keep his streak going and diversify his game.
