NBA Comparison: Theo Ratliff
Strengths: Simply a shotblocker extraordinaire, with extremely long arms (7'4" wingspan), great anticipation
skills, and above average leaping ability...Plays the ball for the block, knows how to position his arms appropriately at
times to avoid fouls...At times he has looked like a patroller in the paint, excels when the defense throws up careless shots
in their slashes...Possesses solid lateral quickness for a big as well, can switch off although rarely does so to protect
the paint...Arm shooter who possesses some touch from both baselines from around 10 feet...Opportunistic garbage scorer who
can score close to the basket or off offensive rebounds....Solid rebounder and a capable offensive rebounder....Amazingly
above average free throw shooter (70%)...Solid NBA body with solid weight, but perhaps can afford a bit more weight....
Weaknesses: Questions about his overall mentality in the game really arouse criticism within scouts...Has
had some DUI problems off-the-court and has been academically ineligible a couple of times already, missing parts of the season
and getting rather inconsistent playing time; this may stunt his growth a bit as a player because there is little consistency
within the playing time he receives...Still very foul prone in his playing time, but makes a huge difference in his impact
defensively in the playing time he receives...Seems to have a jumpshot, but the sample space is a bit small, and seems to
only score opportunistically or as a last resort...Can probably afford to polish up his offensive game, very raw in this aspect
and doesn't have too many moves, no post game...Cannot handle the ball for more than a few seconds without getting stripped
of it, doesn't have great concentration or awareness offensively...Hasn't had great exposure yet due to the aforementioned
problems academically and off-the-court, but scouts know him due to his shotblocking capabilities....
Notes: Has already had a game of 10 blocked shots against a superior team in Florida and their to
player, Dennis Craverline, adding to his resume and increasing NBA interest...Another comparison? Adonal Foyle.
