NBA Comparison: Steve Blake
Strengths: Pure point guard who made a great impact in his freshman year at Florida State...Plays
under control and orchestrates the offense to near perfection, knows how to set up teammates for higher percentage baskets...Maximizes
the effectiveness of his excellent ballhandling skills. Careless unforced turnovers are never a problem for him, and usually
doesn't cave in to pressure defense and lose the ball to defenders...Light feet and quickness aid him in slashing to the basket,
although he mostly creates plays for his teammates from that position....Capable of making or creating transition plays....Very
unselfish, always willing to give up the ball with excellent team awareness...Wiry long frame with good height, a bit of a
pesky defender who is willing to stay with his man and poke the ball away when he sees the opportunity...Great three point
shooter from spot-up positions, comprises the majority of his offense currently...Very quick...Doesn't get down or overly
frustrated, always poised and giving his full effort, consummate team player, simply amazing for a freshman leading his team...
Weaknesses: Questions about his athleticism linger, like many top college point guard prospects of
the past this question may haunt him on draft day...Rail thin as well, and this may affect his drives and his ability
to take contact/finish around the basket at the next level; needs at least 15 more lbs...A great ballhandler, but not the
type who uses it to his advantage; conservative ballhandler who uses ballhandling to maneuver around defenses and create assist
plays through his slashes...Doesn't use his ballhandling to create his own shot, questions about that part of his game...May
find it hard to get his shot off in the next level with a release to the slow side...Shows good touch in his jumpshot, but
rarely if ever tries to diversify his offense; mid-range game and ability to finish around the basket is in question, and
may perhaps be one-dimensional in scoring...Doesn't have spectacular court vision, so his assist numbers may not be comparable
to superior NBA PGs but his awareness and unselfishness more than make up for it...Defense, although quick and unsuspecting,
may suffer against stronger and more athletic PGs due to lack of weight/athleticism...Seems to play under control for his
own good, may need to diversify/expand parts of his game to make them more viable NBA threats...
