NBA Comparison: Devin Brown
Strengths: Strong wingman who possesses an all-around offensive game, complete with capable slashing
ability and able jumpshot...Shows shooting touch and solid elevation shooting the basketball...Likes to come off of catch-and-shoot
situations from mid-range, a practiced shot as he hits a lot of them each game...Currently in the process of expanding his
range and shows ability to knock down the college three pointer in open, standstill positions...Capable of moving off the
ball a bit well, picks his positions and knows how to make himself an available option if need be...When ballhandling is not
an issue, solid slasher with the appropriate strength and first step to finish...Can be finesse shooting the ball, but can
also play with power as well, rebounding with the big men due to his strength...Can be quite a fast player in the open court
at times despite his strength, has solid open floor speed and above average athleticism to finish with sometimes flashy plays...Very
capable defensive player, considered a stopper at his conference who possesses good lateral speed and the ability to harass
his man with his athleticism and strength as well...
Weaknesses: Just started gaining some national exposure this past year with his heady play, was not
even noticed coming out of high school...Needs to fine-tune and polish up his overall offensive game; although possesses offensive
versatility, his offense can be quite sloppy as he has huge hands, does not always get good grip on the ball which may lead
to different shooting mechanics each time he shoots, causing his percentages to lower...Doesn't seem to be a very fluid player
with the ball in his hands, ballhandling is sloppy although it doesn't seem to affect him in his weak conference, needs to
improve his ballhandling for the next level...His drives are quite predictable, often attacks relentlessly and never passes
off those situations...Doesn't have much range at this point, won't be a great shooter at the next level...May be inconsistent
offensively between games, either by being too passive offensively or not hitting his shots other times...Good defense
but probably not great for the next level, his bulk may limit him and his athleticism compared with starting NBA wings is
probably average...Court vision leaves something to be desired, not one to initiate or pass the ball much, although he doesn't
handle much either due to ballhandling deficiencies....May be a tweener between the shooting guard and small forward positions,
a bit strong and unpolished for shooting guard but at the same time too small for small forward...Plays in a weak conference...
Notes: Another comparison? Ron Mercer...Likes to go skinnydipping and participate in X-Games like
stunts during the offseason...Is working on a degree in C++ programming and computer engineering at U of Nebraska.
