NBA Comparison: Trevor Ariza
Strengths: A freak athlete who thrives in transition game and playing in an up-tempo style of game...Likes
to dunk the basketball and in the high school level, often gets his way when he's aggressive, due to his physical tools...Very
good speed in the open court, makes for a good cutting wing man...Probably can get to the basket in the NBA level probably
due to his sheer first step, athleticism, and length...Possesses a long and lanky body decently suited for the NBA level already,
and can be a physically imposing defender in the high school level when he puts his mind to it...Has shown ability to stick
with his man, showing good left-right lateral quickness and the ability to cut off passing lanes/the slashing lane...Long
arms help him get steals especially when the offensive player is least suspecting...Solid rebounder who can attack it on both
ends of the court...Has a world of potential...
Weaknesses: Extremely raw game overall, especially with concerns to his offense...In college he doesn't
take too many jumpers, simply prefers to use his athleticism and speed to overpower defender(s) and score points close to
the basket...Hasn't developed or polished the rest of his offensive game despite having solid mechanics...Very poor free throw
shooter in the high school level (48%) even for a big man...Doesn't have much NBA tricks-of-the-trade, such as ballhandling
and passing ability that helps him to maneuver around set offenses easier...Doesn't have many options to go to when left open
in the perimeter, and may occasionally force the issue at times leading to turnovers/offensive fouls...Doesn't have the highest
basketball IQ...Can drift between spurts of the game or even the entire game, or be extremely overaggressive trying too much,
doesn't seem to plan/lay out/or adjust his game to the situation...Likes to play the game at high speeds and doesn't thrive
playing at a lower speed, may be a big issue in the NBA depending on the situation he is placed in...Wreaks havoc on all positions
in the court in high school but his defensive discipline is not there, can be a bit impatient and overly reliant on his wingspan
at times leading to fouls...Needs to hit the weight room, lacks lower body strength and despite his solid frame may have trouble
defending more elite-level athletes...Questions about his overall work ethic, seems to be a bit lax on the court and not overly
receptive to coaching...
Notes: Has committed to Pepperdine University, one of Pepperdine's top recruits in the past few decades.
A near McDonald's All-American, although he should be there based on talent alone. A lot of questions surrounding his willingness
to improve his game and his lack of polish, but physically and athletically he is definitely on par with the NBA.
