NBA Comparison: Travis Best
Strengths: Great floor general and overall point guard with athleticism, reliable shooting ability,
and great passing skills...Sees the floor well and sees plays before they develop, the mark of a true point guard...Has shown
capability to play both the half-court game and transition game equally well, improvising and conforming to what is evolving
around him...Gets all of his teammates involved and moves them to proper positions...Great ballhandling skills. Rarely turns
over the ball even when under pressure situations, shooting the ball, snagging his dribble or making the pass when necessary...Sports
the 2nd best assist per turnover ratio in college basketball...Like an extension of his coach on the floor, very trustworthy
and reliable player...Has great speed which helps him excel in transition or in half-court, where, combined with his first
step and athleticism, helps him attack the basket well...Extremely reliable free throw shooter who hovers around 87% throughout
his college career...Solid shooter from everywhere, takes wise shots within the context of the offense he is running and shoots
high percentages as a result...Doesn't take a lot, but is a good three point shooter (43%)...Shows solid aggressiveness
and good anticipation skills in forcing steals, has a tendency to multitask in staying with his man/gambling quite effectively,
and a solid defender on players who are equal in size or not much taller than him...A very sound and polished player overall...
Weaknesses: Height is really his greatest and only true weakness. At only 5'11", he will have to
make an extra effort to succeed in the NBA level...Offensively, despite his speed, it may be harder to get his shot off and
defensively, he will be a post-up target and may be prone to having bigger players shoot over him...A reliable shooter who
can shoot within the team system, but lacks the ability to shoot off the dribble and his percentages may further suffer
with his height...Not a super shooter, many players in the NBA will be better than him...Questions about his NBA three point-range
and overall ability to shoot with range...Won't be a great scorer in the next level, although mostly due to his unselfishness
and point guard duties...Not real great athletically, but helps him succeed in passing off the dribble...Height will probably
make him a role player at the next level, despite his skills...
Notes: Stepped into the national scene and ultimately into the draft spotlight after topping an uneventful
freshman year with a stellar sophomore year, in which he took the reins to the starting lineup. Showed remarkable poise, passing
ability and decision making against many teams and he is often praised by the opposition's coach in most of those games.
