NBA Comparison: Ben Gordon
Strengths: Athletic combo guard with the ability to stroke it from all sides of the court...First
and foremost a scoring guard who often scores in bunches, getting hot at spurts of the game...Shows a remarkable tendency
to hit difficult shots off the dribble, possesses somewhat of an advanced offensive game when he's feeling it....Great shooting
mechanics coupled with a solid shooting touch often helps him to hit shots of high difficulty...Also a solid spot-up shooter.
Good three point shooter (41%), although that's just one part of his diversified offensive game...When he puts his mind to
it, also a good mid-range game...Good athleticism, first step and ballhandling skills also help him to attack the basket at
relative ease at times, and he can finish with dunks or layups due to his athleticism...Good ballhandling skills, keeps his
dribble consistent and being a former soccer player, he knows how to ward off his man and fool his defenders with his change
of pace...Shows sparks of good court vision especially with flashy passes such as the drive-and-dish, passes well on the move...Likes
to play an up-tempo game and especially thrives at transition game...Has potential to become a solid to good defender with
his physical tools--good speed, great lateral quickness, long wingspan (6'9" wingspan) and good anticipation skills; already
solid at the passing lanes (1.5 spg)...Great NBA point guard build if he can make the transition...Already has a skill set
which can easily be developed and coupled with his physical tools, extremely intriguing and great potential...
Weaknesses: A combo guard to the fullest sense. Shows a lot of tendencies of the NBA's prototypical
combo guard, taking shots out of the context of the offense, being extremely ball-dominant, and showing little in ways of
passing ability...Can be an extremely streaky shooter at times, abusing his good stroke by taking shots of high difficulty
and getting himself into precarious positions such as double teams...Takes way too many three pointers per game, although
he attacks the basket decently he should do so more...Underutilized mid-range game would give him make him more of an offensive
threat...Struggles running an offense. Doesn't organize his teammates well and possesses poor court vision in static positions...Has
a tendency to run down the shot clock running the offense...Not too good moving off the ball, needs to make himself more available...His
passing potential resides mostly in his slashing and in transition game...Extremely turnover prone, due to his weak decision-making
and the fact that he is extremely ball-dominant...Often gets ahead of himself and his teammates at times...Doesn't look entirely
receptive to coaching, not really having improved in his mentality from his freshman year...Pretty frail frame may present
problems in his slashing and against bigger players defensively...Porous on-the-ball defense, often gets burned because he
doesn't put enough effort in this area...May display questionable body language at times...
