NBA Comparison: Corliss Williamson
Strengths: What is most impressive about Botzong is his ability to get to the line...He has a very
good free throw attempt per field goal attempt ratio, and he makes the most of it as he converts about 81% from the foul
line...Knows how to use his body well. Plays primarily in the post and tries to take advantage of his taller matchups, sealing
him and getting good position which often leads him to be fouled...Has an assortment of nifty scoring options in the post,
with pump-fakes, left-and-right hook shots, scoop shots, etc...Has the strength to draw contact and can finish strong with
layups...High percentage shooter, knows how to get his shot off and his touch and strength often do the rest...Solid rebounding
ability as he is always around the basket...Possesses very good touch for a big man, can step out and hit the 15-footer if
necessary with some regularity...Can spread the defense with his inside-outside game...Very good scorer relative to his playing
time...Consummate pro, gets a lot of contact but never complains...
Weaknesses: Besides his offensive game and his penchance for getting to the line, nothing really
stands out for Botzong...First consideration is his height. He is somewhat of a tweener possessing a power forward's game
in a small forward's body...Fairly slow and unathletic, doesn't fit today's new breed of NBA players real well...Not a transition
player, and not really flexible and mobile in his post moves, more fundamentals involved...Rarely dunks and has great rebounding
games despite being around the basket, a product of his lack of athleticism and mobility...Also affects defense. Defensive
liability due to lack of height, mobility, athletcism, etc...gets burned on the perimeter in rotations and cannot outmuscle
bigger and stronger post pivots...Often resorts to fouling which limits his playing time at spurts...Doesn't really look to
pass once he receives the ball...
