NBA Comparison: Melvin Ely
Strengths: 1988 prospect, an intriguing big man with budding skills...Hones a decent touch which
helps his hooks and low post moves at times...Looks to score, which can not be said for all big men...At this time best attribute
is his body, NBA body and well developed...Shows some ability in knowing how to use body offensively, to draw fouls and get
to a line at a good clip...Solid touch at jumpshot, can hit from 12 feet at times...Decent free throw shooter (66%) currently,
will improve...Good lateral quickness and mobility for his frame, will beat most NBA big men...Can put a body on his man defensively
and alter shots at times just by his mere presence, with his strong frame...
Weaknesses: Basketball IQ is sorely lagging behind his overall ability, and is ultimately preventing
him from being consistent on the court...Tends to make a lot of ill-advised plays that will irritate any NBA coach currently,
but to his credit still very young...Picks up fouls at a fast pace, takes shots he should not be taking, doesn't consistency
and efficiency in his offensive game, rushes and forces the issue, gives up defensively, etc...Also very turnover prone, doesn't
have great ballhandling skills in the post and may set illegal screens/get charges at times...Not a high percentage shooter,
puts fairly poor percentages for a big man...Has ups-and-downs on the same game at times...Doesn't have the best work ethic,
not too aggressive on the court...A bit selfish for a big man, doesn't have a polished offensive game but nonetheless looks
to take the shot regardless...Streaky jumpshooting game, misses more than hits...Poor rebounder. Doesn't box out, uses his
body more often, contributes to fouls...Lacks a great wingspan and athleticism for the NBA, may make him less effective...Not
an intimidator or shotblocker, had some reputation in Russia for being a shotblocker, but won't stand out in the NBA...Can
be lazy and sluggish at times on the court...
