NBA Comparison: Devean George
Strengths: An eager and athletic player who jumps frequently to
contest shots and corral rebounds...Does not mind doing the dirty work for BC, even diving for loose balls and saving possessions...Can
play strong defense at times, but certainly a little above average defensively because his tenacity, build, bulk and his quick
feet...At the SF position, he can block out the shooter's view at times and get blocks at times...Hustle and zest may allow
him to get loose balls leading to some steals per game...Decent rotation defender. Very good at drawing charges, moving his
body to the right position, using good anticipation skills...Decent shooting touch. When focused, capable of draining mid-range
shots and NBA three-point range shots at a decent clip...Gets some put-backs a game with his strength, above average offensive
rebounder...Possesses an NBA body already. Plays PF at BC, but his skill-set is more than quality to make the transition to
SF at the NBA level...Good strength, bulk, and overall body frame, with muscles. Capable of bringing intensity and may be
a spark to any NBA team...
Weaknesses: Overall basketball IQ is sorely lacking...Has not made
any necessary improvements mentally from his freshman to senior years, still makes any "freshman" mistakes which may not be
tolerated at the NBA level...Picks up many ill-advised fouls by sticking his hands at the wrong places, using his hands excessively
rather than his feet, and foul trouble can clearly throw off his offensive game...May foul jumpshooters at times even...Has
had trouble guarding the star wing players of the other teams, always seems to get burned, really a mental problem for him...Has
a reputation as a complainer, whining to the referees after getting into foul trouble...Not extremely good at post defense,
as he is smaller than most college big men, but he will be an SF at the NBA anyway...Offensive game lacks great polish. Has
a tendency to disappear offensively, leaving fellow post pivot Alan Ventam to do all the work by himself, does not always
provide offensive help...A part of this has to deal with the fact that his jumpshot is extremely inconsistent. Has a tendency
to miss open jumpshots, but that relates to his confidence level...Fairly slow release, but good mechanics...Mental toughness
has been questioned, if he misses his first few shots or picks up fouls has a tendency to coast the rest of the game...Not
great at conforming to new situations on the court...Poor ballhandling skills, which offsets his athleticism offensively,
as he can rarely attack the basket without losing the ball...Cannot break defenders down or do anything off the dribble, really
not flashy...Rarely gets to the line, even so shoots a paltry 65% from there...Lacks great ball skills, rarely handled the
ball at BC besides off perimeter handling...Has a tendency to make crucial mistakes whether by fouling, missing shots, or
putting himself into a bad position...May need to reign his overeagerness a bit...Unclutch, not a leader...
