NBA Comparison: Jeff McInnis
Strengths: A score-first point guard who likes to have the ball in his hands...Very crafty with the
ball, has decent speed dribbling the ball, uses change of pace and switch of gears to get around defenders...Handles the ball
well with good ballhandling skills, keeps his dribble low and uses his body to ward away defenders...His patented offensive
move is the jump-floater from 10 feet...Always gets his shot off around the basket area, knows how to avoid getting blocked...Serviceable
mid-range jumpshooter (12-18 feet)...When he puts his mind to it, has above average passing skills even compared to a decent
starting NCAA point guard...Displays solid court vision, finds the open man both off the dribble and off general passing...Possesses
versatility in playing both styles of passing games, can conform to team styles and needs as point guard...Capable of getting
to the lane and making flashy passes whether driving-and-dishing or making kickouts to the open man...Draws defenders well
and has good body contortion, decent athleticism...Decent length, wiry frame and decent quickness can make him a decent defender
at the next level...Good height for the point guard position at 6-5. Has more than enough height and has also put on 15 lbs.
from last year...May perform better at the NBA level because he is limited by the Temple system...
Weaknesses: Temple made him the #1 option offensively, meaning he had less chance to display passing
skills and had to score more, but to his credit he has impressed with passing ability with Portsmouth play...Definitely displayed
more talent and flash in passing his first two years at Temple, but may have regressed in this area taking more of an offensive
role...Simply not a good offensive player, scorer, or shooter and probably never will be. Had all the opportunities at Temple
but never really shot well or scored well...Lacks great NBA three point range (6-24 from threes his senior year)...Never known
to be much of a shooter, may be a bit inconsistent as he prefers to attack the basket rather than take jumpshots...Slight
hitch in mechanics, below average release and stroke...Problems with consistency all four years at Temple. Regressed his junior
year before coming back decently at his senior year, but clearly not at the great level he was at earlier years...Has developed
a reputation for being more selfish as he has taken the offensive burdens, but not his fault...Athleticism won't stand out
at the NBA level, possesses only average speed for a point guard and only an average transition player...Defensive technique
needs work, bends down too much and sometimes does not recover to stop his man...Off the ball defense needs work, sometimes
takes off defensive assignments...Wiry frame despite adding weight, may need more weight...Known to be somewhat of an aloof
player at Temple, doesn't have great trust in his teammates and not really a leader...Had some off the court problems his
sophomore year...Doesn't have great potential and attitude, which may be a turnoff for some teams...
