NBA Comparison: Shammond Williams
Strengths: Stocky point guard who can score with the best of them, possessing great mechanics and
good stroke in his shooting...Shows unconsciousness in shooting. Wants to take the shots for better or for worse, with little
care whether the shot will go in or not, but when it goes in, he can really go through periods of hot stretches...Capable
of swishing many three point shots in a row, the three point shot being his primary offensive arsenal...Considered a pure
shooter in Europe at a fairly young age...Has many crafty moves and decent athleticism, which at least in the European level,
he can use to get to the basket...Can break down defenders with smooth ballhandling ability and pull up for short shots or
layups...As a playmaker, tends to get his assists as he shoots. His production goes up when he takes shots, capable of getting
good numbers of assists as he's scoring, showing good drive-and-dish and other flashy-type passing skills in the process...
Weaknesses: His game is very unrefined and raw, and the fact that he does not seem very receptive
to coaching lowers his potential a notch...Has not changed his game much in the past few years, has kept his constant shooting
game intact and only his numbers, but not his fundamentals, have improved...Can go for very poor shooting nights, taking many
shots and showing a fairly selfish demeanor leading his team to losses...Takes many ill-advised shots, he can create shots
off the dribble but this aspect of his game is much worse than his spot-up shooting and his percentages suffer because of
that...Takes shots out of the flow of the offense, he usually touches the ball for most of the possession...His team has not
had a winning record ever since he started receiving significant playing time two years ago...Not a pure playmaker. Not one
to really pass the ball even though he clearly has the potential to do so if he changes his mentality...Floor leadership skills
need work...Can be turnover prone at times trying to force the issue doing too much...Extremely porous defense. Doesn't put
much effort on this end even though when he is focused (rarely), he can stay in front of his man...Off-the-ball defense is
especially terrible, doesn't help his teammates at all...Some questions of laziness...Footspeed due to fairly average to below-average
speed may raise some concerns...
