NBA Comparison: Raef LaFrentz
Strengths: Improving big man with range and delicate touch on his shot...Already possesses NBA three
point range at such a young age which can not be said for most big men...Good touch also extends to the mid-range area, anything
16' feet and further out, if left open, is generally money for him...Decent getting up and down the floor and if he can put
his dedication to the post area, possesses the agility to get around most slow-footed defenders...Has already shown sparks
of a decent post game, mostly with turnaround jumpshots and hooks...Long arms. Not an excellent weakside shotblocker, but
a serviceable one who can serve as an intimidation factor guarding off-the-ball...Takes high percentage shots most of the
time (54% FGs, 43% 3FGs), sticks to what he is generally good at, plays to his limitations...One of best youngsters of
his age class (1987)...
Weaknesses: Sometimes seems a bit hesitant in releasing his shot, not extremely comfortable at taking
shots as he finds himself constantly stuck in the conundrum of playing a team game, passing the ball or taking shots...Because
of that tendency, never really seems to put up big numbers consistently, what seems to be flashes never gets carried forward...Not
the type of player who gets hot. Makes shots over the course of the game, not all at once, and thus never seems to sustain
any momentum in his game...Plays like a role player all the way...Body has not filled out yet, but with his current body,
he can certainly not withstand the rigors of the NBA at only 228 lbs, needs 15-20 more lbs...Not an athletic freak, but certainly
not slow-footed...Post defense is extremely poor. Lack of weight makes him an easy target to score upon, not even his long
arms help, doesn't have any defensive intensity and seems a bit "soft"...Penchance for playing at the perimeter makes him
avoid contact even further, rarely plays at the post or gets to the line...Despite his long arms does not get as many blocks
as he should be expected to...May have problems with foul trouble which might limit playing time...Very average rebounder,
can be criticized for not getting enough rebounds at times...Play seems to become poor at the most crucial moments, missing
open shots and being scored upon...Not a leader...
