NBA Comparison: Brian Cardinal

Strengths: Makes the most of his abilities, gives 110% effort every night out and that could potentially make him overachieve as an NBA player...Possesses an excellent skill set. Has college three point range and hits that at a 42% clip (many people have underrated this aspect of his game), which could translate to the NBA easily...Soft touch even though he does not play that way...His other part of his offensive game revolves around being at the right place at the right time. Likes to jump and hustle among the trees and secure the easy two points off layups...Has decent strength to draw fouls, and from there he hits free throws at a 82% clip...Plays hard on defense despite his deficiencies, and sometimes it works as he possesses the savvy and intelligence to pickpocket his man for steals at the right time...Plays with heart all the time, and sometimes that allows him to get rebounds...Good court awareness which was underutilized in La Lafayette, can even act as a playmaker from the high post or even around the perimeter if necessary...Emphasis on the hard work. A coach's dream type of player, can make himself into a rugged presence in the NBA...

Weaknesses: Most of his weaknesses revolve around his lack of athleticism. Doesn't fit the NBA prototype, has a 25' vertical and rarely rises or elevates in dunking, shooting, or getting rebounds, which could make that a potential deficiency in the NBA...Lacks great footspeed. Wants to succeed, but just doesn't the adequate body to do it...Most of his game revolves around the college three point shot or hustle baskets. There is little in between, underutilized mid-range game....Attacks the basket awkwardly and rarely finishes due to his inability to dribble or handle the ball in traffic...Poor ballhandling skills, little coordination in his game...Seems to exert a lot of effort and tire himself out with his hustle. Isn't smart at conserving energy over the course of the game, thinks the game is about effort...A bit foul prone, this would only get worse in the NBA...A tweener. Too slow to guard SFs, too short to guard PFs. Undersized at 6'7" for the PF position, he's stuck in no man's land...Shooting is consistent but can be cold from time to time...Had a run-in with his coach about playing time. That won't be condoned in the NBA...
