NBA Comparison: Ryan Gomes
Strengths: Hard-working hustler with a decent talent level and skill set...Likes to play with his
back to the basket but has worked hard on expanding his offensive game, and now has a fairly consistent 10-15 foot jumpshot
which goes in more often than not...Extremely good rebounder. ..Very consistent player. Always gives his dues in both the
offensive and rebounding department...Boxes out extremely well, has a wide and rigid body and uses his 6'10" wingspan to nab
loose balls off missed shots...Has a nose for the ball and utilizes decent footspeed, covering quite a lot of ground in getting
rebounds...Relatively unselfish, team player...Decent defensive player, works hard...Good trunk, good strength and physique...
Weaknesses: Often exerts a lot of energy to get things done, which tends to wear out on him and after
25 minutes of rough play, his effort decreases somewhat...Currently an undersized power forward and really a tweener, and
although he recently started making strides to the small forward position he still has a long way, namely in terms of footspeed,
overall speed and body weight, to make the adjustment...Gets his shot blocked at times in the post by bigger players, not
extremely good at utilizing his body to get a high percentage shot...It may be hard to see how his rebounding is going to
translate to the NBA level, where he is going to have to play against players that are roughly 2-3 inches taller than him...Jumpshot
is still not where it needs to be. Has a fairly flat shot which is quite effective but mechanics need improvement, release
needs to be faster, overall stroke needs to be more consistent...Defensively, it is the same way. Slow footspeed, his mind
works faster than the body...Decent but not off-the-charts NBA potential...
