NBA Comparison: Delonte West
Strengths: An all-around guard with above average athleticism and an assortment of uncanny abilities...Fairly
athletic, has a reputed 36' inch vertical and can throw down dunks with ease...Looks very calm on the court, very controlled
and not mentally rattled, playing the game relatively unconsciously and effortlessly...Good shooter. Nice mechanics, good
touch, rotation and stroke...Likes to spot up from three point land, has NBA three point range, and can drain the shot consistently
in spot-up positions...Underrated mid-range shooter...Has played some point guard before, and although he prefers to have
others create for his offense, he can certainly create for others and this aspect of his game is rapidly improving...Possesses
good size for the point guard position, can potentially see over the top of defenses with his fairly above average court vision...Nice
ballhandling skills. Doesn't lose the ball often and handles defenses aptly by being a fairly good passer to the open man...Decent
rebounder for his size...Has very nice tools defensively. Has blocked many shots (as a combo guard) due to his fairly long
reach and the fact that he likes to stay on the grill of his man, so he's always around the vicinity of the opposing PG's
offense...Fairly tailor-made for the NBA, has quite a polished game and has potential to become even better, which is rare
to find nowadays...Can be molded to fit team needs, whether as a shooting guard or a PG...Athleticism/height/point guard ability
combination are certainly intriguing to scouts...
Weaknesses: Off the dribble ability needs some work. Rarely does things off the dribble, prefers
the static position whether in passing the ball or spotting for the jumpshot...Shooting gets streaky when it is contested...Doesn't
really prefer handling the ball even though he has decent ability in doing so, he prefers to expend energy into both his offense
and defense at this stage...Mid-range game is underutilized, usually he attacks the basket once he drives into the mid-range
area...Not a true floor general and not totally an unselfish player. Likes to mix and match with scoring and passing, although
when he does not score well his passing gets worse...Not that good on off-the-ball defense, likes to stick with his man and
in rotations may get lost sometimes...Decent speed in half-court sets but floor speed is only average. Not a super transition
player despite his athleticism...May need a killer instinct, attack the basket more instead of settling for the jumpshot...Body
language can be poor at times. Sometimes demands to have plays set up for him...Gets frustrated relatively easy and has earned
himself a fair share of technicals, this sort of reputation won't exactly be tolerated in the NBA even with all his talent...
Notes: Has planned to file for early entry in the 2007 Draft. Thinks his game is NBA-ready.
