NBA Comparison: Matt Harpring
Strengths: Combo forward with a diversified offensive game...Doesn't possess great weight as of this
point, but possesses great body control and utilizes his body well playing around the post...Lean cut body and likes to overpower
defenders, getting a lot of layups each game...Knows how to pick his positions and exploit opportunities whether from inside
or outside...Draws a lot of contact but has the body to take it, gets to the line quite frequently where he is a solid 74%...On
the outside, possesses a solid mid-range shot and shoots college three pointers on a decent clip (37%)...Can beat players
with his inside-outside game making it hard for opposing defenders to match up to him...Runs the floor adequately...Large
hands, catches most passes well...Good rebounding ability. Boxes out his man with fundamentals and has the strength and force
to corral them...Consistent player, always gives his dues...Has the ability to put in more weight and become an even bigger
presence at the next level...
Weaknesses: Strong, but not a real athletic player; uses strength over athleticism to draw fouls,
but that could be a problem considering the more athletic players in the NBA...Look awkward driving towards the basket, not
really too fluid but gets it done a bit...Only average putting the ball on the floor...Can get infatuated with the jumpshot
at times between games when he should resort to his better post moves...Not always a reliable set shooter...Once he gets the
ball in the post it's not coming back out, he looks for his shot a lot for a big man even though he is a primary offensive
option...Prone to getting stripped on the weakside by guards, doesn't have good ballhandling skills or a good field of vision
to anticipate defenders...Doesn't really look to dunk even if open....His defense is most atrocious. Gets burned continually
by both bigs and guards alike, always late on rotations due to lack of footspeed and lacks the strength and ability to guard
bigger players in the post...Not an intimidator; short wingspan...Not the most intense player out there, even though he certainly
gives effort...Can be considered a "tweener", because Georgia Tech rotates him around both forward positions, and although
he played both of them well at college, he lacks the requisite toughness and athleticism against PFs and the footspeed and
fluidity of SFs....
Notes: Also played football in high school which explains the great usage of his body...Favorite
actor is Adrien Brody...Models his game after Zach Randolph.
