NBA Comparison: Mike Dunleavy
Strengths: Oversized intelligent wing player...Creates matchup problems with his smarts, versatility
and size.,.Can play the three backcourt positions although is major ones should be the wing positions...Will be taller than
most of his competition in the NBA, even, and that makes him quite intriguing as a prospect...Had a 2-inch growth spurt and
put on 21 lbs over the past year, which shows his work ethic...Wise beyond his years, plays a paced style of game and is a
rhythm player...Very patient and unselfish, understands the team concept which is phenomenal for a high schooler...Possesses
good ballhandling skills, looks quite smooth running the court and in half-court sets...At times can even play the point with
decent court vision...Decent set shooter as of now (especially from mid-range), good mechanics, smooth rotation...Played for
a college-caliber coach with a structured offense in a powerhouse high school program, and it shows...
Weaknesses: In the current NBA which preaches athleticism and physical tools over smarts, likely
to have problems in the NBA...Possesses only average athleticism, and his footspeed around the perimeter is not up to par
so he will get burned by most NBA perimeter players...Sometimes looks lost on the court in defense, creating plays on offense
is more of his forte..As for shooting ability, only a decent shooter as of now. Doesn't have NBA three point range as of now
but can certainly develop it...Cannot create his own shot off the dribble, relies on others to help him...Can cut to the basket
but doesn't do it often enough, anyhow might have problems in the NBA doing so given his relative lack of athleticism...Doesn't
really look to pursue rebounds...Not really a standout at any aspect of the game; scores within the flow, passes within the
flow, etc...Doesn't look to take action for himself, so that might really make him a role player at the next level...Has had
some injury problems throughout his high school career which has made some scouts worrisome...
Notes: Plans to attend Iowa State for his freshman year. Looks to help the Cyclones with his team
play which they sorely need. He has already wiped out UCLA, Iowa, Wisconsin, Wake Forest from consideration.
